VASCO: Four supporters of newly-elected councillor Saifullah Khan were arrested for allegedly abusing and assaulting the supporter of a rival candidate.
According to Vasco police, the incident occured on Tuesday afternoon, when Saifullah’s supporters got into an argument with Sharif Bepari and later threatened and assaulted him.
“As per Bepari’s complaint, Saifullah’s supporters, who were holding a victory rally near the church road in Baina, first trespassed into the complainant’s property to burn firecrackers, and when the complainant objected to the same, Saifullah’s brother Saimulah Khan and nine others started abusing him, and later assaulted and threatened him with dire consequences,” said Vasco police.
A case under Sections 143, 147, 323, 427, 447, 362, 504, 507-II read with Section 149 IPC has been registered.
