PANJIM: ‘Money’ played a different sort of role in deciding the victory of a candidate at the Se Old-Goa panchayat where there was tie between two candidates.
Nilkanth Bhomkar and Virendra Raut had got 150 votes each and so the authorities decided to flip the Rs 10 coin wherein the former was declared victorious. The coin was tossed by Returning Officer (RO) Sainath Naik and Bhomkar chose tails and won.
“When the coin was tossed by the Returning Officer I felt like the Almighty blessed it and this miracle happened. I have got this opportunity and will do my best. I will do development in my village more than what the MLA does,” said Nilkanth Bhomkar after winning in ward 6 of Se Old-Goa Panchayat.
