PERNEM: It’s a fortnight that Tuem locals are without water. With the taps running dry, the residents have alleged that the concerned PWD officials have failed to provide drinking water even through water tankers despite several complaints.
For the last 15 days the locals are yet to receive drinking water as the taps have run dry thereby forcing them to travel almost 4 to 5 kms to fetch water for their daily needs.

People claimed that they complained to the concerned authorities and asked them to supply water through tankers. However, all their complaints fell on deaf ears as the concerned office failed to provide them with water.
Requesting the concerned authorities to release water, former Sarpanch Nilesh Kandolkar said, “People are facing difficulty to even get water for their daily needs. With the lockdown to fight COVID-19 pandemic in force, people are directed not to move out of their houses. With no supply for the last 15 days, people are forced to travel 4 to 5 kms to fetch water from a public well where social distancing norm is violated. The PWD should supply water at least once in four days so that people can stay indoors.”
“We have just received an assurance but till now we have not received water. If we get infected who will be responsible,” asked S Desai, a housewife.
