Casinos have to move out of Mandovi: Digvijay; Luizinho says casinos have turned state into ‘sin city’

ON CASINOS
We are not against casinos. But as far as our stand is concerned, they will have to move out from Mandovi River. It has to be decided how far they will have move away from the coast
— Digvijay Singh, All India Congress Committee General Secretary
Casinos should be moved out as they have turned the State into ‘sin city of India’…I am personally against casinos but what the party’s stand should be, will be decided after consulting the people. I have already begun consultations with NGOs and others on the issue… the state executive committee had taken a decision wherein it found the casinos are an evil and have evil effect on the society
— Luizinho Faleiro, GPCC President
ON DISCIPLINE
The Congress party is not a railway station where one can change destination if ticket is not available… I am not bothered which leader comes and which leader goes. But I am bothered about creating loyal Congressmen, who have imbibed ideology and principles of the party. Congress is not a railway station wherein if there is no Mumbai ticket, one goes to Bangalore. Congress is a not a railway station, but a movement. It has discipline. Indiscipline among the party leaders will not be tolerated at any cost. The party leaders will have to work ahead to bring back the Congress party in to power in the state
— Luizinho Faleiro
Every Congress leader has to understand that he has to maintain discipline (responding to a question on some of the MLAs openly criticising the party and even looking at other options to contest the 2017 polls). The news (on the speculation of the Cumbarjua Congress MLA Pandurang Madkaikar joining hands with MGP) is not correct. I think this is a media creation. We are in touch with all MLAs and this is not correct. We are in touch with Madkaikar also. He is a senior Congress leader and is also general secretary of the local unit.

 ON LEADERSHIP
The State and regional leadership should be given more authority I would be the last person to enforce any decision on the Congress party leadership of Goa. I am here to facilitate. We don’t have likes or dislikes, we don’t have any candidates. We don’t have any favorites and non-favorites… the party will hold meetings of SC, ST, OBC businessmen and farmers, in October and also a workers convention
— Digvijay Singh
