PANJIM: Anjuna Police on Monday arrested a Karnataka native under the NDPS Act for possessing narcotics in a commercial quantity.
Anjuna Police Inspector Sanjay Dalvi said that Basavraj Kallapa Angadi was suspected of dealing with narcotics on the Anjuna coast and a search was carried out on him following his detention at Deulwado Vagator.
Dalvi said the police team was keeping track of his movements for the past few days. “We found 35.5gms of narcotics substance in his possessions which is suspected to be charas worth Rs 20,000 in the international market,” Dalvi said.
He said the accused was employed in a private firm and was residing in rented premises at Chapora.
The case is being monitored by Dalvi for further leads to crack the drug network on Anjuna coast. Dalvi was recently transferred to Anjuna from Pernem.
