MAPUSA: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said the government has decided to drop the marina project at Nauxim in St Andre constituency.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for ‘Lekha Bhavan’, the Administrative Complex for Directorate of Accounts at Porvorim, the Chief Minister said, “Marina will not come up now, so the hearing and other issues related to the project have been dropped”.
Stating that Goa is working towards Swayampurna Goem, he sought support and cooperation from the people and added that the government is moving towards infrastructure and human development.
“National projects such as national highway, terminal project or even double tracking, are not only for coal but also for public transport which are needed”, he added.
“The Accounts Department was functioning in 195-year-old building. We have to set our priority. Foundation stone for new full-fledged ground plus three building for Accounts Department with an area of 5000 sq mts has been laid and this project will be completed within 18 months at an estimated Rs 38 crore”, CM informed.
“It is responsibility of the consultant to plan everything including requirement of water, electricity, parking space, etc, before the project work commences so that new project does not affect the nearby residents”, he said.
“Projects, which are important for public, will be taken up on priority. We are in the process of commissioning water plant at Porvorim by March end which will provide relief to people,” CM said.
“Sewerage project in Porvorim is pending since there is objection. Similarly, some parts of national highway are pending because people have filed cases. However, taking into consideration the rising transportation in the State, the development of road is also important”, he added.
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte, GSIDC vice chairman Joshua D’Souza and Director of Accounts were present.
