Open roads at Campal notified as ‘pay parking’

PANJIM: The North Goa District Magistrate has notified the open roads of Campal residential area which fall under the heritage conservation as pay parking areas.

PANJIM: The North Goa District Magistrate has notified the open roads of Campal residential area which fall under the heritage conservation as pay parking areas. The notification, which was issued on July 16, states that all places at Campal, within the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the City of Panaji, are notified as ‘Pay Parking’.
The residents of Campal, who have been agitating against haphazard parking in front of their residences, will now get some respite as CCP will soon charge for parking on these roads. 
Pay parking has been notified near Rui house, Dr Lily house, Margot house, garden, Tony & Ricardo house, Directorate of Health Services, Ted Mesquita house, Tereza house, Zizinia house, Popley house, Joe Mathias house, Derrick & Wendyll house, Agencia Sequeira, Agnelo Pinto house, Military Hospital, Dr Bossuet house, Hotel Campal, Armando Gonsalves house, Peregrine house and Assistencia.
In the notification, the district magistrate has instructed the CCP commissioner to get the necessary traffic sign boards of regulations and mandates at the places notified. CCP will have to get the boards in place soon in order to regulate vehicles parking.
The residents of Campal were troubled and had been voicing their dissent over the haphazard parking in Campal for long. The regulation is now set to bring discipline in parking in Campal and other areas, especially during the rush hours. CCP will also benefit to a certain extent as there will be some revenue generation through the pay parking.
